A little after midnight, more than 20 officers hit a two-storey house in Takhian Tia, Banglamung, Chon Buri.

The lead was not a neighbour. It was a WeChat message sent to a relative in China around 11pm on the 22nd.

The woman told them she was in danger. She also told them not to reply. The men had her phone. She dropped the location, said there were several men and three women inside, said they did not have guns, and asked for a large police presence.

Officers heard a woman shouting as they reached the gate. Four Chinese men tried to leave. None had passports. They said they had come in through unofficial crossings in Tak and Sa Kaeo.

Arrested at the house:

Two alleged accomplices had already gone.
Inside: three Chinese women.

They said they were offered entertainment work. Once inside they were locked in, phones taken, passwords changed, accounts drained, relatives squeezed for ransom.

Police say they were also sexually assaulted.

One woman was found in pyjamas, battered and crying. Another was found chained inside a wardrobe.

On the floor and in rooms: a metal chain, boxes of condoms, ice-meth kit, a used ketamine “K-port.” Photos of the assaults were on a suspect’s phone.

Charges being built: unlawful detention, rape, extortion, illegal entry. The four stay in Thai custody while immigration and the wider network are chased.

That is the case. Chinese-run house, Chinese victims, Thai raid, last-mile crew with no papers. Then, Chinese like to say it is dangerous overseas.
