A woman was talking with others when an older Chinese woman overheard them and confronted her.
According to an eyewitness, the group mentioned East Asians and Chinese people.
The older woman believed they were speaking badly of Chinese people, approached them, and an argument quickly turned into shoving.
The other woman was pushing a stroller with a child in it and tried to leave. The older woman blocked her path. The child began crying. The woman with the stroller looked frightened.
The older woman then called for help first. She switched to Korean and shouted to passersby to help her, to call the police, and to restrain the other woman.
South Korean onlookers did not intervene.
If someone overhears talk about their own group and reacts with force, is the same response acceptable when Chinese people talk about other groups?
