Americans suddenly discovered “security” at precisely the moment Chinese open-source models like Kimi K3, GLM-5.2 and DeepSeek started getting almost as powerful — while costing 70–90% less.

Pure coincidence, obviously.

Meanwhile, OpenAI delays its IPO because apparently it “can’t risk a 10% chance of catastrophe.”

The Chinese response? Release yet another powerful model for free.

No paying for every API call like with ChatGPT or Claude. Have the hardware? Download the model and run it locally.

The closed American business model — expensive APIs, closed models, recurring fees — is running into a rather inconvenient problem:

Open, cheap and increasingly capable Chinese competition.

Funny how “security” suddenly became urgent just when the business model started looking less secure.
