🌎 Global unions stand with Lee Cheuk-yan
With the verdict in their national security trial due this Friday, 21 August, 90 trade unions across sectors and countries are demanding the immediate release of Lee Cheuk-yan and Chow Hang-tung, condemning Hong Kong’s crackdown on unionists and pro-democracy voices.
The Council of Global Unions, representing more than 200 million workers worldwide, has launched a global petition calling for their unconditional release and condemning the prosecution of Lee as a violation of fundamental rights.
From every corner of the world, trade unions are sending a clear message: repression of democracy and trade union rights will not be accepted.
Freedom of association is a human right, not a crime. ✊
The verdict will be closely watched by trade unions, labour organisations and human rights defenders around the world.
