Recently, construction sites across China have been introducing “air membrane systems” for fully enclosed construction.
They are promoted as offering noise reduction, dust control, and the ability to work regardless of weather.
However, many frontline workers and netizens report that the environment inside these air membranes is extremely harsh.
Temperatures inside are far higher than outside — in summer it feels like a sauna, with internal temperatures reaching 40–50°C. Air does not circulate properly, dust concentrations are high, and the risk of pneumoconiosis (dust lung disease) is serious. Workers must wear masks the entire time.
Netizen comments:
• “They turned outdoor work into indoor work, so now even above 40°C there’s no high-temperature subsidy.”
• “Now they have to work even when it rains. No rest 365 days a year.”
So who is the capitalist who treat workers as spare parts?
