According to claims attributed to Qin Feng (Phoenix TV), former CCP General Secretary Hu Jintao, his wife Liu Yongqing, and their son Hu Haifeng all died from food poisoning. Rescue efforts reportedly failed, and the three died in hospital.
Qin Feng has previously been cited in overseas Chinese media as one of the earlier sources to report Jiang Zemin’s death in 2022 — roughly 20 days before the official announcement on 30 November 2022.
At the time, the Xi administration was accused of delaying the public disclosure and forgoing a full state funeral.
Important context:
As of 31 July 2026, there is still no official confirmation from mainland Chinese authorities, state media, or independent verification of Hu Jintao’s (or his family’s) death.
