PRC Family KPKB in Singapore Japanese Restaurant Over Japanese Songs — “Poor Taste in Music!” Demands to See Owner
A netizen shared this incident:
A family from China was dining at a Japanese restaurant in Singapore. They got upset and complained loudly about the Japanese songs playing in the background. They escalated the matter to the manager and demanded to speak to the owner, calling it poor taste in music.
The netizen stood up for the restaurant and told them:
“Just leaving it here first. The music was playing long before they sat down. If they were unhappy with Japanese songs, why are they even having Ramen, which is Japanese food? They recorded me on their phones when I told them off.
This is Singapore — we should embrace cultures instead of trying to impose on others. They should go back to China if they cannot deal with other cultures.”
Netizen reactions poured in:
• “Kns I go China complain they playing Chinese song sure tio gan one lor, sibei twoface.”
• “Lol meanwhile Sushi Express has been playing the same 5 Chinese songs for 3 years.”
• “Wanting to complain to the manager because the place is playing songs in a different language is peak Karen behaviour.”
• Others shared similar stories of PRC tantrums in Sipadan (throwing food at turtles) and even in the US (“Why isn’t everything in Mandarin?”).
This is exactly why many places around the world are starting to resent Chinese tourists and immigrants.
Small acts of entitlement and cultural imposition like this create huge backlash. Instead of adapting to local norms, some act like the whole world must bend to them.
Multicultural Singapore handled it well, but stories like this spread fast and damage the image for everyone.
What do you think? Have you witnessed similar behaviour?
