Compared with many other atrocities of World War II, Unit 731 is far less known in the West, in good part because it left no striking photographs or film. Worse, no real justice ever followed.

Most of Asia has undertaken no Vergangenheitsbewältigung. But ignoring history only postpones it. It returns later, and worse.
