Happiness came so quickly and directly! Mr. Dong Guangping, whose story has captivated the world's attention, has successfully been accepted by the Canadian government and granted political asylum! Through Mr. Zhu Yufu, Ms. Sheng Xue immediately shared the good news!
This afternoon, my prayers finally came true.
Heavenly Father has heard. Mr. Dong Guangping, a prominent figure in the Chinese pro-democracy movement, after being arrested twice and extradited twice, has successfully arrived in South Korea on his third escape.
This is not "news," this is a living epic.
Dong Guangping was born in Henan Province in 1975. After the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, he embarked on the path of fighting for freedom. For over twenty years, his pen has never stopped, his feet have never stopped. He runs websites, publishes articles, and supports fellow sufferers. In the eyes of the CCP, he is a "dissident"; in our eyes, he is a "person who refuses to kneel."
His legend is three escapes, three times paying the price for freedom:
He continued to speak out after his release from prison.
The second time: In 2015, he fled to Thailand, but was deported to China with the cooperation of the Thai government. During his four years in prison, his wife, Gu Yan, went missing, his son was expelled from school, and his entire family suffered because of him. The letters he wrote behind bars during those four years were more painful than any manifesto.
The third time: Today. Breaking through the blockade, he arrived in South Korea. The third time he knocked on the door, freedom finally opened.
Three escapes, three failed attempts with risks in front of him, yet he still chose to set off. Because he believed that "a person should live like a human being." This belief is stronger than any ideology.
While he was imprisoned and his wife and child suffered, he never advised his wife to "shut up and stay safe." Gu Yan fought for him, went on hunger strikes, and cried out for his innocence; he responded with letters from prison: "You did the right thing." A couple in hardship, their loyalty unparalleled.
Having been deported twice, most people would have given up hope long ago. He said, "As long as people live, there is hope for freedom." From Henan to Thailand, from Thailand to prison, and then from prison to Incheon. He forged an "unyielding path" with his own feet.
A single letter from an overseas Chinese resident is half a history of his family and nation…
