OpenAI's lawyer William Savitt claimed yesterday that Elon Musk tried to poach OpenAI employees for Tesla before leaving the company.
Elon Musk responded that Andrej Karpathy "was leaving OpenAI anyway" and asked to join Tesla.
Tensions rose quickly during cross-examination. Savitt repeatedly asked Elon Musk to stick to direct, narrow questions, but Elon Musk pushed back.
"Your questions are not simple. They are designed to trick me, essentially," Elon Musk said.
He then offered an example of an unfair yes/no question: "Have you stopped beating your wife?" The judge stopped him and moved proceedings along.
