Saudi Arabia just bypassed Iran’s biggest leverage : the Strait of Hormuz.
The East–West pipeline is now running at full 7 million barrels per day capacity, giving Riyadh a direct route that doesn’t rely on the Gulf chokepoint.
But here’s the real question:
Who’s still exposed?
China takes 37.7% of Hormuz flows.
India 14.7%.
South Korea 12.0%.
Japan 10.9%.
The US? Just 2.5%.
So if Hormuz gets shut, it’s not America that feels the squeeze first — it’s Asia.
Control the chokepoint, control the pressure.
