Liu Guozhi, expert in high-power microwaves. Born in November 1960 in Jin County, Liaoning.
Graduated from the Department of Engineering Physics at Tsinghua University in 1983, and obtained master's and doctoral degrees from the same university in 1986 and 1992, respectively.
From 1986 to 2002, he worked at the Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology, where he served as commander of China's nuclear test base and researcher.
He has long been engaged in research and system development in pulsed power and high-power microwave technology, successfully developing practical GW high-power microwave sources and systems, among other scientific achievements.
He has received the National Science and Technology Progress Award four times. Elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009.
He once served as deputy minister of the General Armament Department of the People's Liberation Army, with the rank of lieutenant general.
