For more than 60 years, the United States has tried to undermine Cuba’s communist regime through sanctions, covert operations, and diplomatic pressure, yet the system in Havana survived every challenge.

But 2026 may be different.

President Trump recently suggested that Cuba could collapse soon and hinted that after the war with Iran ends, Washington may turn its attention to the island. At the same time, Cuba is facing a severe energy crisis after Venezuelan oil shipments stopped, triggering fuel shortages, blackouts, and growing unrest.
