In recent months, X has been flooded with accounts claiming to be Uyghur women from Xinjiang, posting selfies with messages that insist “nothing is wrong here.” Many of these profiles are not real people, but rather faked content following templated instructions. International audiences may then believe that "Uyghurs themselves” are denying abuse when, in fact, there has been documented mass arbitrary detention, forced labor, coercive surveillance, and a systematic erasure of Uyghur culture in Xinjiang.
This is not traditional propaganda, it is identity extraction at scale—turning human appearance into a strategic asset.
