A Ukrainian diver has changed her citizenship and will compete for Russia

Two-time Olympian Sofiia Liskun announced that she has become a Russian citizen and now lives in Moscow.

She says she plans to compete for the Russian national team, but must first take part in the Russian championship.

Lyskun was born in Luhansk and represented Ukraine for many years.

In an interview, the athlete said she “never thought about which country she was competing for,” and decided to switch citizenship in the third year of the full-scale war, explaining it as “problems with coaches.”

She also said she couldn’t train properly in Kyiv, so she left first for Poland and then for Russia.
