NEW: China's Chongqing provincial Public Security Bureau has opened a "criminal investigation" into Puma Shen, a Taiwanese lawmaker and co-founder of civil defense organization Kuma Academy.
The police notice pledges to hold him "criminally responsible" for the crime of "splitting the state."
Puma was previousily sanctioned by the Taiwan Affairs Office in October 2024 for "separatist acts."
