Russia’s Ministry of Education just decided to remove the phrase “invaded and seized the Far East” from 8th-grade textbooks.
Apparently, rewriting history is easier than living with it.
For scale:
•Taiwan’s total area: ≈ 36,197 km² (3.62 × 10¹⁰ m²)
•Territory China lost to Russia in “Outer Manchuria” (1858–1860): ≈ 900,000 km² — twenty-five Taiwans.
Japan once edited its own textbooks too, replacing “invasion of China” with gentler words like “advance.”
Now Moscow is doing the same — softening conquest into “integration.”
And Beijing? Silent.
No boycotts, no street protests, no “never forget” documentaries.
Because when the invader is a “friend,” even stolen land becomes a “misunderstanding.”
