Chinese was okay with the Japanese for quite some time until it began demonizing japan again due to political needs.

Same with the KMT where in order to make sure that CCP get the credit for fighting the Japanese , KMT soldiers were red washed to become communist soldiers.

In actual fact, most of the KMT who surrendered were sent to Korea and abandoned and hence also why their bodies are sent back in recent times due to the need for another political show.
