Recognised as the oldest known human settlement comparable to a city, Çatalhöyük was a Neolithic community that existed in central Anatolia between 7500-6400 BC.
This mural, recovered from the archaeological site in the 1960s, is thought to have been a map of Çatalhöyük, depicting houses and a volcanic eruption in the background.
