Not a modern steampunk creation, but a 2,500-year-old drinking vessel from ancient China. The bronze bird with inlaid gold eyes is actually a lidded ritual wine container known as a zun. A cleverly camouflaged hinge at the neck allows the head of the bird to be opened for the jug to be filled, while another hidden hinge on the beak allows it to open for use as a spout.
