The Great Translation Movement’s 2025: A Year in Translation
As 2025 ends, we look back at the voices, events, and truths we translated — from crumbling propaganda to quiet resistance, from military provocations to everyday hypocrisy.
Here are the major incidents and revelations we covered, month by month. Not exhaustive, but the ones that cut deepest.
January–March
• Exposed persistent animal cruelty: dog meat trade including pets
• Highlighted birth tourism exploiting U.S. citizenship
• Covered the collapse of a China-built skyscraper in Bangkok (multiple deaths, ongoing rescue) — “skycrap” that ended China’s quality propaganda
• Taiwan deporting Chinese influencers and spouses advocating PLA invasion
April–June
• Rare anti-CCP protests and deportations continued

October–November

• Deadly fires blamed on corruption (e.g., Hong Kong parallels)
• Worker protests and harsh conditions exposed
December
• Demographic crisis animations and reframing Christmas as Korean War “victory”
• Delivery riders’ protests in Changsha suppressed by massive police response
• Chinese-made MLRS failures in Thailand-Cambodia clashes and Cambodia
• Leaked CCP documents on overseas influence operations
• Russian-Chinese tensions: police extortion tips for Chinese tourists in Russia
• Narrative engineering: “trackless trains” as buses, CGI hype
This year, we translated pettiness in sports, mockery of disasters, military signaling, labor suppression, propaganda leaks, and export failures.
We showed ordinary kindness clashing with state outrage, surveillance failing the vulnerable, and systems prioritizing control over safety.
None of this would reach beyond the firewall without you — the readers, reposters, tip-senders, debaters, and silent witnesses.
You carried these translations further. You asked questions. You refused to look away.
