If you are a British person who wants to bring a foreign partner into the country then they will have to meet a minimum income requirement and show they can support themselves without welfare

But if you are an asylum-seeker or illegal migrant who has been allowed to stay in the UK you can bring family members into the UK who do NOT have to demonstrate they have the necessary housing or income to live in the UK without needing welfare and who do NOT even need to speak English
