10/15/24: Today, I mailed in my ballot, fulfilling my civic duty. Below are 6 reasons why I won’t be voting for Trump this year.

Trump's flaws are numerous, some are fatal, and others are personal character flaws. Based on my observations and understanding over the past few years, here are the reasons why I will no longer vote for him:

1) The most important reason is his disregard for the Constitution. After the 2020 election, Trump asked then-Vice President Pence to stop the vote count and refuse to certify the election results, which ultimately led to the January 6th Capitol riot. Despite numerous lawsuits dismissing claims of election fraud, Trump still refuses to acknowledge the results and continues to spread falsehoods. His actions, which disrupted the peaceful transfer of power, directly violate constitutional principles, making him unfit for any office, let alone the presidency.

2) His anti-immigration policy is filled with hostility toward ALL immigrants. He has rarely acknowledged legal immigrants but has often said things like "immigrants are poisoning the American bloodline," "immigrants are destroying America," and "immigrants are criminals and rapists." His remarks target not only illegal immigrants but also those with temporary protected status and the second generation of immigrants whose parents are undocumented. His supporters do not differentiate between legal and illegal immigrants, and ultimately, all immigrants become targets. Immigration issues should be resolved through legislation, but Trump blocked the immigration reform bill proposed by Republican Senator Lankford for his own interest.

3) He disrespects women and has stripped away their right to abortion. In the infamous Hollywood Access tape, Trump boasted about being able to "grab women by the xx" as a celebrity. The three Supreme Court justices he personally appointed, along with other conservative judges, overturned federal abortion rights. Now, 21 states, all Republican-controlled, have fully or partially banned abortion. States like Texas and Alabama even prohibit abortion in cases of rape or incest, seriously infringing on women's fundamental rights.

4) He abandoned allies and bowed to dictators. Trump often used the excuse of "preventing more deaths," but this logic is the same one Putin and Xi use to justify invading their neighbors — capitulating to dictators to avoid casualties. Trump's stance on Ukraine undermines the rule-based international order and weakens America's alliances in Europe and Asia. By his logic, Europe should have given in to Germany during World War II, and Asia should have surrendered to Japan. If the U.S. abandons its role as a global leader of democracy, it plays right into Putin and Xi's hands, helping them realize their ambitions while America retreats from the world stage!

5) His understanding of tariffs shows a lack of economic sense. In his first term, Trump launched a trade war with China, some of which had merit, but he applied the same tactics to U.S. allies. During this campaign, he proposed a 60% tariff on all Chinese imports and 20% on others. He claims that tariffs are paid by foreign governments, not passed on to U.S. consumers, which is either deliberate deceit or economic ignorance. A Wharton School model predicts that his policies will raise prices and significantly increase U.S. debt.

6) Trump is extremely dishonest and endangers national security. Many former cabinet members, national security officials, foreign policy experts, and retired generals have warned that Trump is a threat to U.S. security and must not be allowed back in the White House. His ignorance and arrogance are also reflected in his approach to global climate change. He once told voters that a quarter-inch rise in sea levels over hundreds of years was insignificant — a serious misrepresentation, almost criminal!

— Voting against Trump is to turn the page and allow the Republican Party to renew itself, reclaim its traditional conservative values, and return to Reagan-era alliances and global vision. Only then can America and the world move toward a better future!
