通过照片，真菌学家将青蛙腹侧的蘑菇鉴定为『橡树蘑』属于一种腐生菌，通常生长在腐烂的枯木上，专门分解死亡生物的遗体，从腐败的有机物中获取营养。但2023年的研究发现，这种蘑菇可能已进化出以活生生的植物为食的生态习性，并且能够与活体植物或树木形成共生关系——既能从宿主那里获取营养，也能提供营养。

美国康奈尔大学兽医学院的博士后研究员表示，真菌是能够适应环境变化的动态生物，可能会在不同的环境或气候中接触到新的宿主，并在我们意想不到的地方生长。青蛙的真菌感染很常见，如果蘑菇在皮肤上大量生长或侵入体内，可能会表现出真菌症的症状......😱
