Three Russian MiG-31 fighters illegally entered Estonian airspace and remained there for a total of 12 minutes, Estonian authorities reported.
The aircraft had no flight plans, their transponders were switched off, and no two-way radio contact was maintained with Estonian air traffic controllers.
The Estonian Foreign Ministry summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires and handed over a protest note.
This marks the fourth airspace violation by Russian military aircraft so far this year.
