One thing that isn’t discussed is how incredibly demoralizing it must be for cops who arrest the same criminals over and over again only to have them dumped back onto the streets. What’s the point of risking your life to haul these animals to jail if they’ll be free tomorrow?

China can buy Canadian goods, but it’s risky to let a sector or company become so dependent on the Chinese market that Beijing can use that dependence to apply political pressure. That isn’t a hypothetical.
