Qarchak prison in the south of Tehran, for example, is near to the Shahr Rey oil refinery that sustained a direct hit and is currently up in flames. I spent 3 months there- it is overcrowded and unsanitary in the best of times, with regular cuts to power and drinking water. What must these poor women, many the most marginalised in society, be going through right now?
