Our prayers have been answered. After more than 20 years, I am overjoyed to be reunited with my mother here in Washington. Most importantly, she can finally embrace her grandchildren for the first time. Celebrating #Thanksgiving together brings indescribable joy, gratitude, and a sense of normalcy.
This reunion marks the end of a two-decade ordeal. Sadly, my father did not live to see this day—he passed away over two years ago without ever meeting his grandchildren. Yet, I feel his presence guiding us, his strength and hope lighting the way to this moment.
There is no greater blessing than the love of family and friends—those who have stood by me through thick and thin. I am deeply grateful to @POTUS, @SecBlinken, @JakeSullivan46, Senior Director Sarah Beran, Assistant Secretary Dan Kritenbrink, @DHS_Policy Rob Silvers, Deputy Homeland Security Adviser @jendaskal and the many national security professionals who worked tirelessly over four administrations to bring my mother home. Special thanks to senior officials in the Trump Administration, including Deputy National Security Advisor Matt Pottinger and his China Director Ivan Kanapathy, @mikepompeo, and his senior advisors @marykissel and Miles Yu. Special thanks to my friend @AmbNathanSales for his friendship and support on this journey. I know countless others have been there for me and my family in this--thick and thin--that I am eternally grateful for.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to @USAmbChina Nick Burns and the exceptional team at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, whose unwavering efforts made this reunion possible. I am also profoundly thankful to members of Congress— @SpeakerPelosi, @SenMarcoRubio, @RepGallagher @CongressmanRaja @committeeonccp well as my former colleagues at the @USCIRF for their steadfast support. Lastly, I am profoundly grateful to my incredibly supportive colleagues at @HudsonInstitute.
Words cannot fully capture my gratitude. The privilege of my children knowing their grandmother is a gift that begins to heal the wounds of our family’s long separation. It bridges a gap that has weighed on my heart for two decades. I am forever grateful to my country. America has given me everything—my freedom, my livelihood, and now the joy of seeing my children play with their grandmother.
God bless America!
